The City of Covina est. 1882

SGV Construction originally came to us as a small father-and-son business that started with a small project in the City of Covina – we are proud to have played a part in their explosive growth over the past few years. Prior to designing and building out the SGV Construction brand, we did extensive research and provided a marketing plan to reach and achieve initial growth goals. In addition to the branding, we helped SGV Construction develop their website and all associated marketing materials. SGV has grown to be a very well respected and sought after construction partner in Southern California.

The City of Covina, CA, founded in 1882, is seven square miles and is located in the heart of the East San Gabriel Valley, approximately 22 miles east of Downtown Los Angeles. It is centered in the midst of Interstate freeways 10, 210, and 605, and State Route 57. Covina’s population is approximately 47,880.

Concept

The City of Covina contracted with 789 to create a marketing campaign for its economic development campaign and showing in 2015 and has been working with 789 for this and other projects in the years since.

Services

789 developed a look and feel with messaging, and created all marketing materials- including brochure, signage, and USB business cards with a five-week turnaround. The cohesive campaign featured City highlights, property profiles and an outreach kit to represent the City at the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) in 2015.

Bringing the authentic Mexican experience of Casa De Pancho
to customers digitally and in-person!

Casa De Pancho aims to be the Mexican cultural dining hub in the Cities of Anaheim and Walnut, serving an authentic experience of Mexican culture featuring Mexican eats, drinks, and live entertainment. 789 was brought in to overhaul Casa De Pancho’s digital presence in order to better represent the immersive cultural experience that guests have at their restaurants. 789 incorporated new brand elements into Casa De Pancho’s digital identity, giving them a more unified and contemporary look, while still paying homage to its Mexican roots. 789 also developed a new website based around the new brand elements to serve as a digital gateway for guests to explore the menu, learn more about events, and make reservations easy!

To ensure brand consistency and recognition, UCLA Law partnered with 789 to define its brand identity. Currently, we are in the initial stages of Research and Concept Exploration, employing various valuable methods such as focus groups, competitive analysis, SWOT analysis, interviews, and mind maps. This extensive research allows us to gain insights into the target audience, competition, and opportunities. Concurrently, we are updating the Law School’s campaigns and materials across digital and print platforms, leveraging our expertise in SEO and engagement. Our aim is to align messaging and visuals with the evolving brand identity. Through this comprehensive approach, we optimize reach and impact, engaging prospective students, alumni, faculty, and the legal community. Our collaboration encompasses research, concept development, and updating campaigns, all aimed at establishing a distinct and recognizable brand for UCLA Law within the legal education landscape.

at Nelson MacNeil Rayfield.

Recognized as some of the most trusted and respected personal injury lawyers in Oregon, the law firm of Nelson MacNeil Rayfield (NMR) is well-versed in personal injury practice areas ranging from auto accidents and product liability to wrongful death and malpractice. Their firm reached out to 789 to update their brand and redesign their website in an effort to appeal to their target audience. We started our journey with NMR by going through our initial phases of Research and Concept Exploration. Our team performed valuable research including competitive analysis, SWOT, interviews, mindmaps, and more. For the concept phase, 789 provided these examples of how the elevated brand could be implemented in signage, print, apparel, and other items. While updating the NMR website, 789 made some strategic design and UX/UI shifts ensuring it to be more user-friendly, visually impactful, and technically simplified. The website was also optimized for tablet and mobile access while being ADA-compliant.

In addition, 789 helped the Chamber completely rebrand itself to help emulate its new, innovative approach to building Covina’s business community. We performed a full brand audit and developed a brand strategy that was more representative of what the Chamber has evolved into over its 100 years as a key stakeholder in the Covina community.

Rebranding the City of Montebello

789 was excited to team up with the City of Montebello to assist them in their City rebranding. This was an extensive process, utilizing community engagement and informal focus groups with key community stakeholders and staff. Ultimately the community chose the final product: a monogram design featuring rising elements to coincide with the growth and future goals of Montebello. Developing a bold monogram featuring rising, foundational focal elements, accompanied with a contemporary title treatment and colors, provides the fresh, innovative introduction to who Montebello is. A single word that describes the logo treatment and its meaning is “Elevate” – which has been adopted as the City’s one-word slogan because it embodies all aspects of the community and its efforts, and also accomplishes Montebello’s future goals.

Changing Up the Water Game

Creating a fun, informational campaign
for Western Municipal Water District.

Western Municipal Water District worked with 789 to provide campaign development and creative support services for an awareness campaign called “Change It Up.” Services included campaign strategy, design, web assets, social content, video, and environmental signage. The campaign featured a set of ‘plant’ personalities that have hacked WMWD. We highlighted and emphasized the ‘hacking’ via all communication mediums as a guerrilla marketing campaign geared towards sending the primary message of outdoor water use (landscaping). The campaign consisted of a micro site, social media campaign, support print materials, video(s), in-person signage/decals/stickers, and a recommended ad campaign and potential pop-up, in-person event.

Reinventing Legal Education.

Helping the University of Claifornia, Irvine:
Law School refresh their brand.

The University of California, Irvine School of Law is the culmination of several generations of revolutionary dreamers – those not satisfied with the status quo who wanted to redefine, reimagine, and reinvent legal education. We were excited when they invited 789 to help refresh their brand to match their bold, forward-thinking goals. We incorporated the idea of “Being Greater Than” by using a symbol and bright colors to communicate this message. Our goal aimed to make UCI Law stand out among similar schools in the surrounding areas. UCI Law also asked us to create this year’s Admissions Viewbook, a tangible, printed piece that would be sent to or handed out to prospective students considering UCI Law. This was a 40 page booklet that incorporated the new brand look & feel, as well as bold colors and photos to emphasize the Admissions content.

Head For The Hill!

Branding the UCI Bookstore

789 has worked with University of California: Irvine (UC)I for over 10 years developing brands, marketing collateral, experiential signage, digital design assets and much more! Our first project with UCI was rebranding their on campus bookstore to The Hill at UCI. We worked closely with staff, students and faculty to develop a brand that could be socialized, worn and celebrated. 789 applied The Hill branding to several points of contact from environmental signage and in-person experiences, to university gear and digital assets.
